Firestick Setup: Which App to Use and How to Sign In

An Amazon Firestick is one of the easiest ways to watch Tdot Media Plus on a TV you already own. This guide explains which app to use, how to sign in, and how to fix the most common hiccups.

Why a Firestick is a popular choice

A Firestick plugs into the HDMI port on your TV, so you don't need to buy a new television or replace your current setup. If you already have one sitting in a drawer, you can be watching the same day.

Tdot Media Plus works on your own equipment. Smart TVs, Android boxes, MAG and Formuler boxes, Firesticks, phones and computers are all fine — you just need to be comfortable following a few setup steps, and our team emails instructions for your device.

If you'd rather not set anything up yourself, we also sell the XTV Air Pro box for $165 plus tax. It arrives already set up, with a 1-year warranty.

Which app should you use?

We recommend IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate, MYTVOnline, STB Emulator Pro and Smart STB. On a Firestick, most households end up with IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate.

Other apps may work too, but we can't fix problems caused by the app itself, so starting with one from our list saves time.

What to have ready before you start

First, your login email. After you order, our team emails your username, password and server link — activation usually takes 15 to 20 minutes after payment, and occasionally a few hours when we're busy. Check your spam folder if it hasn't landed.

Second, your internet speed at the Firestick itself. IPTV needs at least 30 Mbps reaching the device you watch on. You can test this by opening fast.com in that device's browser.

If you haven't ordered yet, every new household can try a free 24-hour trial with no card needed at tdot-media.com/trial. That's the best way to see how everything runs on your own Firestick and your own internet before you pay for anything.

Signing in with IPTV Smarters Pro

Once the app is installed on your Firestick, signing in takes about a minute. Keep your login email open on your phone so you can copy the details exactly.

Our full Firestick walkthrough, including installing the app, is at tdot-media.com/tutorials/firestick.

  • Open IPTV Smarters Pro and choose "Login with Xtream Codes API".
  • Type any name you like in the name field — it's just a label for your profile.
  • Enter the username, password and server link from our email, exactly as they appear.
  • Press Add user, and your channels and movies will load.

If something doesn't look right

Most problems have a short fix, and we have a guide for each one on our site.

If the picture stops, stutters or keeps loading, it's usually the internet reaching your Firestick rather than the service. A wired connection where possible, a recommended app and a device with enough free memory make the biggest difference.

Common questions

Can I use a Firestick I already own?+

Yes. Firesticks work, along with Smart TVs, Android boxes, MAG and Formuler boxes, phones and computers. You'll need to be comfortable following setup steps, and our team emails instructions for your device.

Can my family watch on more than one Firestick?+

The Standard, Premium and Enhanced plans each cover one device. If you want two to four devices watching at the same time, the Family package is $15 per device per month, plus HST.

How much internet speed do I need for a Firestick?+

At least 30 Mbps reaching the Firestick itself. Any Toronto home internet plan that delivers that speed works, whether it's cable, fibre or condo Wi-Fi. Test it by opening fast.com in that device's browser.

How do I pay, and can I get a refund?+

You can pay by Interac e-Transfer with auto-deposit, so no security question is needed, or by Visa or Mastercard. If you change your mind before your account is activated, we refund you in full; once it's activated there are no refunds, which is why we offer the free 24-hour trial first.
